The CBDC Facility located at the chemical refining complex in Ruwais, west of Abu Dhabi, will produce 40,000 tons of carbon black per year. The contract calls for the fabrication over 8000 metric tons of pipe racks, equipment-support structures, shelters, transfer towers and conveyors.
Cleveland scope is part of the procurement of the raw material, shop drawings for the conveyors and the complete fabrication and delivery.

Project Name : Theater Steelwork at Al Habtoor City

This is a multi use development adjacent to Dubai’s main thoroughfare, Sheikh Zayed Road comprising of commercial, residential, tourism and entertainment sectors being developed by Al Habtoor Group.

The Cleveland Bridge scope is comprising of structural design, connection design, detail drawing, supply, fabrication, painting, delivery and erection of structural steelwork. The main steelwork is a very heavy comprising of long span Warren type and a deep multi floor verendral trusses type of structure. A major challenge is the restricted nature of the site which has insufficient space to accommodate large mobile crawler type cranes which restricted to hoisting by tower cranes only. This necessitated the use of complex hoisting and skidding horizontally used specialized jacks supported of intricate temporary works towers and rails beams.

Cleveland Bridge were contracted by the Government of Dubai, Department of Civil Aviation for connection design, detail drawing, supply, fabrication, deliver, erection and fire protection of structural steel for the following projects: Concourse 2, Terminal 3 and Car Park, Terminal 1 Expansion, Concourse 3, Concourse 4, APM Station and other associated project.
The project involved a multitude of different variety of structural steel, long span, heavy fabrication, abnormal loads, architecturally exposed structural steelwork at a live operational airport which is now the busiest airport in the world for international passengers.

Project Name : Waterfront Development Project Phase III – Bahrain Flyover Bridge

The flyover bridge Cleveland was contracted to fabricate and install was a steel arch tied suspension bridge which is 122.5m long, 16m wide and 21.4m high which is designed for pedestrian traffic.
The 16m wide bridge deck is a concrete post tensioned construction and the entire bridge was constructed at an offsite facility about 250m away from the permanent location across Prince Khalifa Bin Salman Highway and was moved into placed with two end piers using SPMT vehicles.
Construction on the bridge began in September 2012 and was completed in January 2013.
Cleveland Bridge and Engineering Middle East (Private) Limited scope was fabrication, detail, supply, paint and erection of The Structural Steel Arch Rib.

Project Name : Zayed University

The new Zayed University campus provides educational facilities for 6,000 students and related faculty and support staff. Constructed on a plot of approximately 75 hectares, it features a built-up area of 200,000 square metres. The new campus is located in New Khalifa City, near Abu Dhabi International Airport. It contains academic buildings, recreation facilities, and residential accommodation, with separate facilities for men and women.
Cleveland Bridge & Engineering scope of work was the connection design, detail drawing, supply, fabrication, painting, delivery and erection of structural steel.
The steel work on this project has an extremely complex geometry which was testing the limits of the structural analysis and 3D modeling. During the erection stage of the works the stability of the building had to be examined at every stage requiring substantial props as the structure is essentially “floating” on bearings which was only finally restrained when the structure was completed and tied to the buttresses. After finally being restrained, staged depropping of the permanent structure from the temporary structure took place in the required sequence.

Cleveland Bridge were contracted by EMAL to construct a large Silo for storing Alumina to be constructed at the Dubal Aluminium site in Jebel Ali.

It was 45m diameter and 55m high and the scope of work for Cleveland Bridge was the design of connections, detail drawing, supply, fabrication, painting, delivery and erection of steelwork including the top house with cladding. The height of structure and the site logistics were such that we were required to work in an operating facility which restricted areas on site. This required a very strong proactive safety culture. As the structure construction required a lot of hot work, this was undertaken in accordance with the required safety protocols.

Another complication was the coordination required for the incorporation of the material handling system.

Project Name : Dubai Olympic Sports Complex

The exceptional design of this building has turned it into an unforgettable structure in Dubai, used to host swimming and diving Olympic competitions, as well as other sports events and activities. It is also a venue for hosting exhibitions and entertainment shows, by covering the swimming pools and transforming them into dry floors used. This is done through pumping the swimming pools water into a tank in the energy building responsible for providing all the energy to the entire main building.
Cleveland Bridge scope of work was the connection design, detail, supply, fabrication, painting (including intumescent fire protection) delivery and erection of structural steel. Structural steel connection were all bolted with no site welding. Due to the large clear spans temporary propping was required to reduce lift weights to optimize carnage efficiency be it single or tandem lift.

Project Name : New Exhibition Hall at World Trade Center

In 2009, the Dubai World Trade Centre nominated Cleveland Bridge to fabricate and erect 4000 tonnes of structural steel works for the new exhibition facilities at the Dubai World Trade Center in Dubai, UAE. A total uilt-up area of 34,005 m² was added to the existing 60,000 m² exhibition area.

Project Description

Project Name : Sheikh Khalifa Bin Salman Bridge

Sheikh Khalifa Bin Salman Causeway Highway involved the construction of a 404m marine bridge as part of a causeway linking Hidd to Manama with a length of 6.4 km consisting of 3 lanes going towards each direction and footpaths on either side.
All the bridge was fabricated in Cleveland Bridge & Engineering’s works in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, where it was assembled prior to being skidded onto a barge and shipped to Bahrain. The bridge was then hoisted into the final position using strand jacks. The bridge steelwork weighed in excess of 2500 tonne and is 121 meters long, 54 meters wide with an arch height of 26 meters.
The scope of work for CBEME was detail design, supply, fabrication, painting, deliver and erection of structural steel and in addition the design, supply and installation of wire strands hangars.

Emirates Towers stand at the heart of the financial centre of Dubai, and are among the most distinctive pair of skyscrapers in the world. The office and hotel towers rise to 54 storeys (354m) and 56 storeys (309m) respectively.

The two triangular towers are a dramatic reminder of the commercial confidence in a city that has grown at an astounding rate.

The scope of work for CBEME was the connection design, detail, supply, paint, delivery and erection of structural steelwork. A particular challenge on this project for CBEME was the fabrication, loadout, transportation and installation of abnormal load trusses both from a weight and size perspective.
